School education for the children at last - made possible by a food stand

Mary's Microfinance Project

Name: Mary Conteh

Country: Sierra Leone

Financing: 100 € and many business ideas

Project: Food stand, selling palm oil, farming

How Mary successfully builds her business:

Mary Conteh buys a small piece of land for €100 to farm and invests in her food stand selling cooked rice.

After 12 months she passes on the money and can use her income to send two children to school.

The success story of Mary Conteh:

Mary runs a rice food stand with her husband. She has many customers and the children sometimes help her with the work because Mary is physically handicapped.

She would like even more support for people like her so that they can also live from their own work.

Another business idea of Mary and her husband is to buy palm oil in neighboring villages in order to be able to sell it later at a better price. The family has already been able to buy building materials because they plan to build a permanent house next year.

One of her children is in high school and the other is in secondary school.

Mary hopes that more microfinance will start in her village so that the women can invest their money.

KETAAKETI stands for self-determined development through interest-free microfinancing, which is passed on from family to family - and that 100%.
